Today I did whatever I wanted to do. I messed around on the computer, leisurely strolled through the grocery store and made a quick and easy dinner. I also got a little project done that I'd been wanting to do for a few weeks.
It was originally Robyn's idea which I posted about here, but I thought it was fantastic, and was glad to finally get to doing it today. My house is dirty - it's dusty, the floors are sticky and the fridge is scary. So I decided to make up a list of chores for the girls and do it PayPerPost style!
So what I did was think up a whack of chores that needed done (I even added more after taking this picture), and wrote each job on an envelope. I put a sticky on the front with the offer amount, and put the correct amount of money in each envelope. The girls were both busy after school and then off to a birthday party, so they haven't taken any 'opps' yet. The plan is that they can take the blue or green sticky off the 'opp' to reserve it, and then collect their cash when the job is done! I have a feeling that having the money ready to go will be the key to this operation!
I just happened to have blue and green sticky notes (PPP colours), and decided to call it PayPerJob instead of PayPerPost:
As you can see, we even have a 'Big Green' area for the big money opps:
The girls are just getting home now, and both need to have showers first, but are REALLY excited about it! They were feeling for the money through the envelope saying, "Are you serious? The money is in there? We just do the job and then take the money??" I think this is going to work out great!
But I have a feeling these two opps might be the last ones standing:

i am so going to use this when school gets out! how did they do?
Glad you finally got to doing this! It's a fabulous idea. Hope your girls do well! :)
wow! great idea! i wish i had thought of this when my kids were little, well, they would have had to pick up dinosaur poo back then though! ha ha ha
smiles, bee
That is genius :-)
This is priceless. Way to go, Mom!
I might try this one this summer when I have both girls here as it could possibly give them some incentive to help out a bit. Can't wait to hear how this works out with your girls!
Awesome! Super kudos...if there's such a thing. :)
Great idea! I bet the highest one's will go first. Too bad you can't segment them. ;)
Saw this at the PPP forums and have to say it's brilliant! I hope you don't mind if I copy your idea for our fridge at home. I've been looking for ways to get my 7 y/o interested in earning money, and knowing that the payment's right there in the envelopes will definitely be a big help.
Unfortunately, this is also a biased way of education, money is now a means to an end, even for free and priceless actions.
If you manage to make them do these things because they love their busy Mum, then it will be the revolution you could be proud of !
